How we put this together, and our bias
We make scrubs. That is a bias, so here is our method rather than a request that you trust us. We read every substantial Carhartt scrubs discussion we could find across r/nursing, r/Nurses, r/MedicalAssistant and r/cna, and we pulled current line names and pricing from Carhartt stockists including Uniform Advantage. First, a male nurse in r/nursing giving a detailed rundown of brands said he had been a Cherokee wearer for years and had owned several pairs of Carhartt, and that he stopped using both when the material changed. Second, a commenter in the same thread said her favorite Carhartt scrubs are from a line that has been discontinued.
Both are saying the specific garment they liked is no longer the one on the shelf. Carhartt runs multiple scrub lines, currently marketed under names including Cross-Flex and Force, and rotates them.
Practical takeaway: when you read a review about Carhartt scrubs lasting ten years, check which line it refers to and whether that line is still sold. Do not assume a repeat order in two years will be the same garment.

- Durability. Beyond the ten-year account above, a commenter in r/MedicalAssistant reported wearing a thrifted pair of Cross-Flex boot cut pants for over a year with only minor wear on a velcro closure.

Where it goes wrong, specifically
The colors do not match between orders
This is the most concrete complaint we found, and it is the kind of thing you only discover after you have bought several sets.
An r/nursing commenter said she orders navy from Carhartt, receives navy in slightly different shades, and then has to worry about which top matches which pants. She described it as infuriating, which is a fair reaction when the whole point of a uniform is looking uniform.
If that is your sticking point: We run a small, fixed palette rather than a rotating one, dyed to the same standard batch to batch, so a top bought this year still matches pants bought last year.
The pants have a rise problem for some men
The single most specific negative in any thread came from a male nurse in r/Nurses writing a detailed wish list for scrub design. He said he cannot wear Carhartt pants, quoting a colleague who called the saddle weird, and reported that every pair he owned split at the crotch.
He was describing a geometry problem, and in the same post he asked for a reinforced crotch given how much squatting the job involves. If you are a taller or longer-torsoed man, that is the specific failure point to watch on the pants.

They run short
A male nurse in r/nursing said he has to size up in Carhartt because they run short on him, and wears Dickies instead. Tall lengths exist, so it is worth ordering the tall rather than sizing up and living with a wider garment.
The look is utilitarian
The r/MedicalAssistant commenter described the aesthetic as more utilitarian than trendy. Whether that reads as understated or plain is a taste question.
The pricing
Through Uniform Advantage, Cross-Flex women’s tops list from around $15.26 on sale to $24.99, Cross-Flex Force six-pocket cargo pants from around $17.05 to $36.99, and a men’s three-pocket V-neck top at $34.99. Nurses in these threads describe paying roughly $60 for a matching set at normal prices.
